Where do the Bubble Games take place?
This fun event themed around Champagne and sparkling wines begins with a pre-hunt briefing at the Hotel Vitale then continues on through downtown San Francisco and ends with prizes and a Go Game trophy for the winning team held at a post party around the pool at the Phoenix Hotel at 601 Eddy Street.
What are the Bubble Games and how are they played?
Teams of 6 to 10 individuals are formed to compete with one another to complete Bubble Games missions. These ingenious, daring, and creative missions are downloaded to each team's web-enabled cell phone. The mission may be a clue to find or do something, a creative challenge, directions to the next event, an “engineering” problem, a public display of outrageousness, etc. The "proofs" that each team completed their mission are created by each team in the form of digital photographs, digital video, audio recordings and text input which are sent back to the Go Games via cell phone or are stored on the teams digital camera and uploaded at the end of the game.
Teams will be challenged to tap into all of their resources - chief among them, their own problem-solving, strategic planning, and communication skills. Teams will interact with their environment and each other in ways they could have never imagined. Not only do players experience the magic of San Francisco, but they learn about sparkling wines and Champagnes and have lots of fun. And...the post party and game results are a total blast!
Games typically last about 2 hours. Participants will be grouped into teams, formed either before the games when signing up online or at the pre-game introduction session . Equipment is provided at the games start so don't be late! Everyone gets up to speed in about 15-30 minutes. After the Go Games Company downloads missions to the phone, all the SparkleSF teams take off on foot for about 2 to 2.5 hours.
The Bubble Games Game Master watches the game unfold, issues challenges and redirects teams for maximum fun.
What do you supply teams with?
- A Go Games V phones with keyboards (one cell phone per team) to deliver and verify your missions, along with instructions on how to use our Go Game phones. All answers are one word answers or multiple choice so using the phone will be easy.
- Digital cameras to prove your works of genius and creativity. Phones and cameras can be used to capture pictures and videos.
- A Go Game hotline emergency number in the event you have any questions or problems.
How difficult are the clues?
The Bubble Games do not require familiarity with or knowledge of the San Francisco area (or sparkling wines and Champagnes) to achieve success. The goal is for everyone to have fun so the questions are clever, witty and silly and interesting, but is not do difficult so that the hunt becomes frustrating or stressful.
How physically demanding is the Bubble Games competition?
The missions require a bit of walking (1.9 miles). The Games begin at the Hotel Vitale and ends at the Phoenix Hotel with a post party. The scavenger hunt is conducted on level ground that gives players time to experience the city.
How long do the Bubble Games last?
This competition begins with a pre-hunt introduction (~15-30 minutes), the Bubble Games clue hunt (~ 2 hours) and collecting judgable materials (e.g., photos, videos, etc.) from participants, conduct voting and selecting the winning teams (~1 hour).
How do you win and what happens at the Post Party?
At the completion of the game, everyone will meet at the awards post-party around the pool at the Phoenix Hotel where teams will vote on the winners and can eat, drink and share their experiences.
After the missions are completed, the winning team will be determined democratically. All photographs are downloaded and then each team is asked to submit their favorite “judgable” material for the final vote. On the big screen we'll project all the submissions for the creative challenges, with a complete arsenal of sound effects and an Mcee. Each team will vote on each other's performances to determine the final outcome. Each team will vote using their phones.
Points are tallied in a hilarious multimedia collage of the day's events and the winning team makes off with its trophy. This phase of the fun can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the number of participants in the Bubble Games.
